Dr. Dre Rejects Berner's Proposition For "The Chronic" Strain

At one time Dr. Dre conceded to meet with Berner regarding collaborating in the bud business. But Dr. Dre refused Berner’s offer by saying he (Dr. Dre) wanted to encroach that business from a more secure space.

In a Bootleg Kev Podcast Oct. 3, Berner said he pitched a strain to Dr. Dre “three or four years ago.” But the plan didn’t move forward.

“Dre sat down with me and I showed him a jar of what we wanted to call ‘The Chronic’” Berner said. “It was by far the best looking weed we’ve ever produced. It was incredible, beautiful; it was orange, purple, funky, stanky… it looked like it was out of a fucking movie – how good this weed looked.

“I showed him ‘The Chronic’ and he was just like, ‘yeah I’d fuck with it. I appreciate Slim putting this play together and, you know, we’ll think about it. But I don’t know if I really want to put myself in this industry.’

“He told me, ‘I got money money and I don’t really want to play with that until, you know, maybe it’s federally legal. I just don’t want to risk it.’”

In 2022, Berner made history as the first cannabis CEO to make the cover of Forbes magazine.

He celebrated the milestone on social media with a picture of Forbes Magazine with his face on the cover.

“Wow, not only is this extremely humbling,” he wrote in a caption, “but this is the definition of life goal shit! It’s every entrepreneur’s dream to make the cover of Forbes Magazine but the reality is many founders and CEO’s of the largest companies in the world will never get a chance to achieve that goal.”

Berner started the cannabis company “Cookies” and is a member of the rap group “Taylor Gang.”
