2PAC'S FATHER DISLIKES DEAR MAMA DOCUSERIES

2Pac Dear Mama Docuseries

Billy Garland, 2Pac’s biological father, has taken a stand against the docuseries Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni & Tupac Shakur.

Garland said in an interview with The Art of Dialogue June 3, he turned down interview requests from Allen Hughes, who directed the docuseries.

But Hughes convinced Garland but didn’t tell Garland the footage of the interview would be used in the for Dear Mama.

“We did an interview for about two hours,” Garland said. “After I saw the interview in the documentary, I was slightly disappointed… I didn’t like it. It was more about something else than about 2Pac…”

Also in the interview Garland stood up for 2Pac against Hughes calling 2Pac a “delusional mythmaker.” Hughes made that comment before he made Dear Mama.

Garland also defended 2Pac against people calling him bi-polar. “2Pac wasn’t bi-polar,” Garland said. “He was reacting because people were betraying him throughout the timeline of his success in music.”

Garland didn’t like the five-part docuseries but critics gave it a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
